Great Lakes Golden Retriever Rescue is dedicated to finding Golden Retrievers in need of their forever home. We work hard to find the right home for the Goldens we receive from various situations. Our Goldens typically come from owner surrenders and shelters. After we take in a Golden, we ensure proper vetting and, if necessary, behavioral training. Our organization is very passionate and dedicated to doing what’s best for our Goldens and we have foster homes throughout the State of Michigan that feel the same way. We adopt dogs to families located in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin. If you are interested in adopting one of our Goldens, please complete our adoption application. An interviewer will contact you to help you find the perfect Golden! If you are interested in volunteering with Great Lakes Golden Retriever Rescue, please visit our volunteer page.

Turkey Golden Update! Our first two Goldens are thriving in their foster homes. Golden Retrievers just want love and attention, and these two are no different. They have been enjoying all of the affection they have been receiving and they are finding it very entertaining to have real toys to play with. They have transitioned so well from being in the streets fending for themselves, to (mostly) well behaved, loving pets. Surprisingly, neither of the dogs have had any accidents in the house, which goes to show just how smart dogs are.

It was almost exactly one month ago today that we first shared that we will be getting two Goldens from Turkey. Now, we have rescued four from Turkey. We picked up two more Goldens from O'Hare airport this past week, another male and female. They were found in separate areas of Turkey, where they were wandering the streets and forced to find food and shelter on their own. Like the last two, when they first got out of their crates after the long flight, they were happy and ready to go. They jumped right in the van and settled down for the drive home. Although, we have not had them too long, we can tell that they are going to be wonderful dogs as well and will transition easily.

Please know how thankful we are for the support we have received and we have a lot of different people to thank. First and foremost, thank you to all who have donated to help these wonderful Goldens. We truly would not be able to do this without you. Thank you to the volunteers in Turkey who help find these dogs in the streets and forests of Turkey and help coordinate the transport of these Goldens to the States. Thank you to all of our volunteers who on short notice helped with transport and fostering. GLGRR is truly blessed to have so many wonderful people involved in this organization. Be sure to share with your friends and family so that more people are can learn about the Goldens in Turkey!
