Foster a Golden
Fostering a Golden is an extremely rewarding process. Although letting your first foster go can be difficult, there is nothing better than finding your foster dog their forever home! If you have the time, we would love for you to join our GLGRR foster team. You will welcome a Golden in need of some love and attention into your home, and help Great Lakes get any vetting and training needed for your foster dog. Great Lakes will cover all vetting and training costs that a foster Golden may require. You will need to have the time and energy to devote to the foster dog and time to talk with and meet with your foster dog’s potential forever family. Before applying, make sure that your entire household (two-legged and four-legged members!) will welcome and be excited for any foster dog that enters your home. GLGRR could not rescue the wonderful Goldens it does without fosters who open their heart and home to a Golden in need. If you feel that you have the time, energy, and dedication to foster one of our rescued Goldens, please complete an application. After your application is submitted, our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to discuss your application within seven business days.
Become an Interviewer
If you are unable to take a foster Golden into your home, becoming a GLGRR Interviewer may be something that you are interested in! An interviewer contacts vet references and then the potential adopter to discuss the application. As an interviewer, you will talk with applicants about what type of Golden (age, energy level, etc.) will best fit with their lifestyle. Interviewers will continue to assist their approved families with the adoption process and answer any questions that they may have. Interviewing can be time consuming with all the talking there is to do. Also, an interviewer needs to be able to work with e-mail efficiently. It is very rewarding when your applicant finally finds the perfect Golden! If you are interested in becoming an interviewer with Great Lakes, please complete an application.
