About Us
Great Lakes Golden Retriever Rescue was founded by a small group of Golden lovers in 2003. Our rescue started small and we have worked hard to build up our volunteer network so that we can rescue more Goldens. By raising awareness about Goldens in need and by fundraising to support the Goldens we have taken in, we have built the rescue to where it is today. Great Lakes strives to and prides itself in working with families that need to re-home their Golden and then finding that Golden a safe and loving home. We have built our nonprofit organization on passion, dedication, and love for Golden Retrievers and will continue doing so!
Our Goals
Great Lakes’ goal is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home Goldens in need. Our main focus is to find the right home for our Goldens. We don’t pick the first applicant that is interested in the Golden; we pick the right applicant for each Golden. Many people are surprised that there even needs to be a Golden Retriever rescue, so it’s important to educate about rescue Goldens and the adoption process. Another goal of GLGRR is to help Goldens that come into rescue needing extraordinary medical care get the help they need to become adoptable.
