Buddy

Buddy

We adopted Buddy (Aslan was his original name) in 2017, when he was almost a year old. He was one of the Turkey dogs, and although we don’t know his history, he has a big scar on his hip, so we know he was injured in some way. He also doesn’t like flyswatters and rolled up newspapers, so we know he had some bad experiences with those two things, as well.

When we adopted Buddy, his foster told us that she felt that Buddy really appreciated all the good things that had come his way, and we have seen this trait expressed many times in the seven years he’s been with us. For example, our morning ritual includes vitamin “treats” and kibble inside a Kong toy. When he’s done with his snacks, he always comes over to each of us separately to “thank” us!

Buddy is a good traveler and has joined us on countless road trips all over the country. He loves hotel stays and confidently rides in the elevator and politely waits at the front desk for check in (and a cookie!) He is innately good, and has never counter-surfed, gotten in the trash or jumped up on the furniture unless he’s invited, even though we didn’t “train” those behaviors. Buddy enjoys leash-free walks in the woods at a members-only dog park and comes when he’s called, will “wait” if we need to catch up to him on the trail and will reverse direction when we call “this way!”

We just love this guy and are so grateful to GLGRR for trusting us with his care. -Ogren Family
