Dory

Dory

We lost our third Golden in March 2019. We were not immediately sure our hearts could go through that heart break again, but by June we knew that our home was not complete without our furry friend. So we put in our application with GLGRR and waited, and waited. Although all the dogs on the roster were beautiful, they just did not seem to fit our lifestyle.

Then on January 10, 2020 we met Bree at her foster home and after about 5 minutes my husband and I knew we wanted her. We left that evening and crossed our fingers that we would be chosen. And we got the call later that week – she was ours! I cried when I got the call. We were able to pick her up on January 19th and she immediately just “fit.”

Though it was a sweet name, we didn’t feel a connection to the name Bree. Since she had just recently come from Turkey, everyone felt it was ok to change her name. We asked our adult children to help with the re-naming. My son came up with the perfect name, Dory, which means a gift from God. And we truly feel like she was sent just for us.

Dory is the sweetest pup we have ever had. We had to have a rotted and broken tooth pulled but other than that have had no problems. She needs a bit of training as she thinks it is a game to run from us, but we are confident that we can work on that. We look at her everyday and think how lucky we are to have her and be able to love on her. She loves her walks and pretending to chase a squirrel in her yard. And she adores her “babies” – her wolf and her cow toy.

It breaks my heart to think of her life in Turkey and what she went through. We are so incredibly grateful to GLGRR for helping bring her here to safety and to be loved. THANK YOU all so very much for what you do! -Steve and Donna Bramble
